Using BriteVerify to Migrate Legacy Newsletter Recipient Lists to the New Marketing Platform
Complete these steps to transfer to the new marketing platform. Make sure that you have already set up an API key to integrate BriteVerify with SendGrid. View the API Setup Instructions if you need to do this. The API only needs to be set up once.
Log into your SendGrid account and view your dashboard.
Go into the Marketing menu and choose Legacy Newsletter to get to the Marketing Dashboard.
Go into the Recipients tab along the top of the screen and choose Manage.
You can choose to migrate your lists one at a time or you also have the option to merge them into a single list and migrate all of them at the same time.
Select the lists that you want to merge. If you're merging all of the lists you can quickly select all visible lists by clicking the topmost checkbox.
Click the blue Merge button.
On the next screen you will enter a name for the merged list. Click the green Merge button and then click it again to confirm.
Next you will choose what type of email addresses you would like to export. Choose only the "Usable Emails" then click the green Export button.
You will get a confirmation screen and then your new list will be available as a single recipient list ready for export.
Follow the steps below to export a single list.
Single Export Option
Move your mouse over the list that you want to migrate. A panel of options will appear. Choose Export.
A checklist dialog will appear. Uncheck all of the options except for "Usable Emails" and then click the green Export button.
The list of usable emails will be downloaded to your computer. Once that finishes, you can click on the X or Cancel to return back to your lists.
The list will download as a .ZIP. Open the .ZIP and the actual list will be named "Enabled.csv".
Log into your BriteVerify account. By default, you are taken to your Lists view.
Drag and drop the downloaded file anywhere inside the dotted lines on the BriteVerify list panel.
The file will upload automatically and become ready for verification.
A small window displays the estimated cost of the uploaded file based on the total number of emails.
Click Begin Verification to proceed.
A dialog will appear. Click into the Select Export Destination menu. "None" will be selected by default.
Choose Export to SendGrid. If your API key is not set up, you will be asked to enter it. Follow instructions here to acquire the key.
An entry box will appear allowing you to give the list a name.
Another input required at this stage is to determine if “risky” emails should be eliminated from the final list. “Risky” emails include “Unknown” and “Accept All” category emails and are preferred to be removed as they can dilute a marketing campaign’s overall performance. Read more here.
Click Lets Get Started! to validate and export the list to SendGrid.
Once the export process completes the summary will show how many valid emails were imported. There is a short delay before the list will appear on your SendGrid account. Larger lists may take a couple minutes.
Click View Results to get a more detailed report.
If you are still logged into SendGrid, you can click View List to switch from BriteVerify and see the list on SendGrid.
